85. "Everything In Its Right Place" by Radiohead

The title says it all. The song opens the spacey, computerized concept album Kid A, and like the whole album, this one deeply rewards listening with headphones.

The mesmerizing keyboard part and its phosphorescent tone, the soft pat of the bass drum, the controlled odd time signature measures, the peaks hit by the vocals, the wash of subtle sound effects and supporting music (many discoveries awaiting headphones), the plentitude of quiet still left over in the air - it all fits perfectly together.

When I hear this song, with its softness and glowing keyboard, it strikes me as warm. Because it's mostly computerized and fairly monotone, maybe some consider it to be cold. I'm interested in what others think.
