When you have a talent for crafting melodies, sometimes when you’ve got some good ones together, you can afford to go back and ugly them up for fun. "You're So Right" could've taken a much more straightforward form, but the Strokes opted to refract the core music of the song through off-kilter production, defacing it with dissonant backing vocals, clicky drums, and ridiculously compressed fuzz guitars.
I'm not asking anyone else to like this song. I don't even think I really want you to. But when I think of works of imagination that I enjoy swimming through, this is absolutely some of the best fun.
